Why the New York Knicks will be Better Next Year

Mathew Huff
7/20/16

The New York Knicks have been struggling for consecutive seasons now. It is no secret, with criticism raining down on their superstar Carmelo Anthony like hell-fire, Phil Jackson still having yet to bring in a marquee free agent, they have however created a few stepping stones. Jackson drafted Kristaps Porzingis in the 2015 draft, traded for Derrick Rose, and brought in Joakim Noah this free agency. With these additions, the Knicks will take a step forward next year. I’m not saying they will make the playoffs, but what I am willing to predict is that the Knicks will have a better record than this past season. In all honesty, almost anything would be uphill from the past two years. Yes, Noah and Rose have had injury problems, but they are still major upgrades over Jose Calderon and Robin Lopez. Porzingis will have a year of experience under his belt while Carmelo will continue to help lead and build the team into something formidable. Let’s not forget Jeff Hornacek will be the new head coach of the New York Knicks which will potentially create a new playing scheme other than the triangle offense for the players to run if Phil Jackson allows it to happen. Most people will not argue that Hornacek will be better than previous head coaches Derrick Fisher and Kurt Rambis. Also, Brandon Jennings and Courtney Lee are no slouches as role players either. All of these reasons will be why the New York Knicks will be an improved team next year and will shock much of the NBA world.
